The Portfolio Workshop is run jointly by Upstairs and Show It Better. We decide together what happens to your data, and we are both responsible for it.
For anything about your data, including a request to delete it, write to hello@theportfolioworkshop.com. You can also reach Upstairs at hello@learnupstairs.com and Show It Better at hello@showitbetter.co.
Your name and email. To sell you a seat, give you access, and email you about the program.
Your country. To work out purchasing power pricing and the tax due on your purchase.
Your payment. Teachable takes and holds the payment. We see the receipt, never your card.
Your portfolio and any pages you submit. To review them in the program, and to use them as described in the Terms of Use.
Your application answers, for VIP. To decide whether to offer you a seat.
Your voice, face, name and messages in clinics and the group space. Because the sessions are recorded and posted, and the group space is shared.
What you watch on the course platform. To see whether the material is doing its job.
How you use the website. To see where visitors come from and which pages they read, and to show ads for the program.
All of it comes from you: the checkout, the waitlist form, the application form, the group space, and the clinics themselves. We do not buy lists and we do not collect anything about you from other sources.
We use these tools to run the program. Each one holds part of your data.
Webflow. The website.
Kit. The waitlist form, and your name and email for program and marketing email.
Teachable. Your account, your purchase, your payment and your tax, and what you watch.
Google Meet, or a similar platform such as Zoom. The live clinics and their recordings.
Google Forms and Google Drive. Applications, uploaded portfolios, and files we share with you.
Google Chat. The group space and everything posted in it.
YouTube. Any clip we publish that includes you or your work.
Analytics and advertising platforms. Data about your visit to the website, used to measure our ads and show them.
Everyone who works on The Portfolio Workshop, including our operations partner, works for us and under our instructions. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone outside this table.
Every clinic is recorded. If you are in the room, you are in the recording, camera on or off. Recordings are posted to your cohort, and we can reuse them in our teaching material and in marketing, as set out in the Terms of Use.
If you would rather not be on camera, keep it off and type your questions instead. Plenty of people do.
If you want us to stop using your face, your voice or your work in new material, email us and we will stop. What is already published cannot be recalled.
If you buy a seat or join the waitlist, we email you about The Portfolio Workshop: new dates, new material, and things we think are worth your time.
Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and they stop, and we will not email you again unless you ask.
Emails about a program you are currently enrolled in are not marketing. Those keep coming until the program ends.
Webflow, Kit and Teachable set the cookies they need to run the site, remember what you type into a form, and keep you logged in. Turning those off breaks the service.
We also run analytics and advertising cookies. They tell us how people found the site and which pages they read, and they let us show ads for the program to people who have visited. You can block or clear these in your browser settings at any time, and the site still works.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, send it to you as a file, or stop using it for marketing.
Email hello@theportfolioworkshop.com. It is free, and we answer within 30 days.
Two honest limits. We keep purchase and tax records for as long as the law requires, so deleting your account does not delete those. And a recording that has already been published cannot be pulled back from everywhere it has been shared, though we will stop using it going forward.
If you are not happy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
The program is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Your data lives inside the tools listed above and is protected by their access controls and ours. No system is perfect. If something happens that affects you, we will tell you.
We may update this policy. The date below is when this version took effect.
